About Grigor Godwin

A Monstrous Writer

Following the famous advice, I write about what I know. I write about monsters and the monstrous people who hunt them down. From my place in the hidden history of inhumanity, my stories and my artwork defy the conventions of linear reality.

The writer is a tortured time traveler

Ra Ra Rasputin

My first name comes from my great grandfather Grigori Rasputin, who was the lover of many, though perhaps not of the Russian Queen as the song would have you believe. I’m an unrecognized member of the clan through my mother Anya, the illegitimate child of Rasputin’s daughter Maria. We inherited no property but continue the secret family business. There was much more to Rasputin than the official history is willing to tell.

The secret conflict behind the Russian Revolution of 1917 will be revealed

A Godwin of Old

On my father’s side I am the descendant of the Godwins, a family of aristocratic power-brokers who worked to defend Anglo-Saxon England from the Norman invasion and the shadow of The Sawmen who traveled in its wake.

The Son of Science Fiction and Ozark Fantasy

My father was the respected science fiction writer Timothy Godwin, who blended traditional folklore from his home in the Ozarks with an expansive vision of what could come next. He believed in the importance of transcending the past and challenging the holders of conventional power while remaining connected to the ground under our feet.

Ozark Futurism

There Are Monsters In Our Midst…

…and we are often the worst of them. It’s easy to lash out in fear at misunderstood creatures such as the Ozark Howler. Their ways are strange to us, and they frighten us by showing the ephemeral nature of the rules we choose to live by. The world is more bizarre than we like to believe. My upcoming work, to be published in 2022, tells the story of the blurred boundaries between our desires and our fears.
